I Heart Pest Control Guys

Yesterday as I was walking out to the car with Joslyn, I looked over at the rocks and saw this HUGE scorpion! It was at least 3 inches long, if not more! It was HUGE and SCARY LOOKING!

For those of you who don't know, one of my biggest fears is finding a scorpion in our home. It freaks me out just knowing that this sucker was in our yard. I'm scared that Joslyn will find one and get stung.

Also, for those of you who don't know, telling me that the big ones aren't as bad doesn't make me feel better about it. Nor does saying that at least it was outside. The fact that it was anywhere near my baby and me is way too close!

So what did I do?

I ran past the thing, as fast as I possibly could, which was not an easy task carrying the diaper bag, Joslyn in her carseat, her bumbo and my purse. Once we were safely stowed away in the car, I called my dear husband and told him that there was a GINORMOUS scorpion in our yard and that he needed to spray our house ASAP! He, of course, told me; "At least its a big one, they aren't as bad." and "At least it was outside and not in the house." and "Honey, I can't keep them out of our yard." To which I responded, "You aren't making me feel better and you had better try your hardest to keep those ugly things out of my yard!!!!!"

Luckily he was in the area that day and brought his truck home to spray our little enemy! HOORAY FOR PEST CONTROL GUYS!!!

Of course, when he got home he walked right past the thing and had to have me show him where it was. How he missed that GIANT scorpion sitting right by the sidewalk, I will never know.

When he saw it he informed me that it was dead and covered in ants. I figured that since it hadn't moved in 7 hours, it was probably dead, but I was too chicken to even look at the thing. They freak me out just thinking about them.

So, now our house is newly sprayed for bugs and I am even more freaked out that there is a scorpion everywhere I turn.

Deduction

Joslyn is learning so much these days. I just love watching her face as she figures things out. The other day I captured her trying to get her blue cup under the table.

First, she tried to go through the table leg.

After realizing that that was not going to work, she rolled over and crawled around to get it.

She is getting so smart.

Tongues-a-Wagging

Joslyn has found her tongue and now all day long she plays with it. Here is a video of her and her tongue.

Eight Months

Joslyn is already eight months old! Time is really flying by these days.

Joslyn has FINALLY learned to sit. I thought she was never going to stop leaning over, but she has finally done it and now has already moved on to kneeling.

Joslyn is getting into everything and loves to explore. Consequently, she are our house are getting more and more battle wounds from it. The little scab she has on her nose in the pictures are from when she attacked the garbage can and lost. She has also bent the blinds in the front room and broken a slat on the set in our dining area.

She still loves to eat, but she always gets a funny look on her face when I give her little bites of things. I'm thinking that it is just a curious look and not that she doesn't like it.

She has also started laughing more these days. She would laugh before but she would more than likely default to the happy squeal, which is cute, but my sister and I decided that it sounded a little condescending at times.

All in all, she is such a blessing in our lives and we love her more and more each day.

Patrick and Me

Patrick told me that I don't post enough pictures of the two of us so I took some pictures of us today so I could remedy that problem.

"Look Mom! No Hands!"

Joslyn has finally learned to sit!

Fun Picture

I took this picture of Joss the other day and I just love the look on her face. Its a look of pure shock! She was just talking to me when I took it, but a picture is worth a thousand words. I just wish I knew what she had been telling me.

Technology Fairy

Sunday night Patrick and I came home to a nice surprise waiting for us at our doorstep. Sitting there amongst the bushes was a graphing calculator and a flat screen computer monitor. We are pretty sure that we know who they are from and it was so nice of them to do that for us. It was also really helpful, since Patrick needs a graphing calculator for school and our computer monitor was rather old. We are so thankful for all the little things that people have done for us. Its nice to know that there are so many wonderful, giving people out there.

Mommy's Little Helper

Joslyn is such a good little helper around the house. Whether its making dinner, doing laundry or loading the dishwasher, she is always right there to help me.

Take this morning for instance. I was unloading the dishwasher and she saw that there was some water on the door and thought she would get that cleaned up for me. So, she reaches over and grabs my pant leg and goes to town getting everything all dried. What a little helper.

The REAL Joss

I usually post lots of pictures of Joslyn smiling, because who doesn't love a smiling baby picture, right? But this picture truly captures the essence of Joslyn. This is the look that I see on her face most of the time.

She is so interested in everything that is going on and wants to figure everything out. Since the day she was born, she has been very alert and would lay in the bassinet and look out at everything. She also tends to stare at people a lot.

This is, apparently, a little unnerving for most people. I often have stranger come up to me and comment about how intensely she stares at them. One lady even said that it felt like she was staring through her and trying to get her whole life's story.

There was also one day that Joslyn stared at my sister for 15 minutes straight. She stares so much that Patrick's webelos are always wanting to have staring contests with her.
