Summer Job

One of the manager's at Patrick's job quit recently and they have asked Patrick to fill in until they find a replacement for him. They are doing a company wide search and they say that they aren't in any big hurry to fill the position.

Patrick is happy that they thought of him and is definitely excited to not be in the sun all summer long. He will also be done with work on Saturdays by noon.

I am excited that he is no longer on commission. It makes budgeting way easier! I'm also excited that his hours are pretty set too.

Our New Couch

I am so excited! After a year of having our front room basically empty, we know have a place for people to sit when they come over!

About a month ago we bought a couch and have been waiting and waiting for it to be delivered. Today was the lucky day! I love our new couch so much. It is so soft a comfortable. Joss loves it too. She likes to jump and crawl around on it. She also likes pulling the pillows off and laying on them.

It's a three piece sectional. We plan on moving the sectional to another corner but right now we have our computer there so we have to move that into the other room.

Joslyn's New Babysitter

My sister, Kristi, had been watching Joss while I've been going to work. She has recently moved to Mississippi to be with her husband who is in the Air Force.

This means that Joss needed a new babysitter. Luckily, I remembered that my friend from high school watches kids and she had an opening.

I was really nervous about it, mainly because Joss doesn't do well with people that she doesn't know. The first day she was there she walked over to the toys and started playing with the other kids and barely even acknowledged the fact that I was leaving. The next day wasn't as easy though. She is however loving being there with the other kids.

Here she is enjoying her time there. That is April's little girl in the background.

Here is Joslyn's first art project. She wanted to eat all the goldfish. She did the scribbles all by herself! It's even hanging on our fridge for everyone to admire!

Joss's Newest Passion

Joss loves purses and bags right now. She will sit there and take everything out and then put it all back in, then take it all out and then put it back in. It doesn't matter if it is the diaper bag, my purse, a grocery bag, a ziploc baggie. She loves them all!

In this picture, she got a hold of the ziploc bag that we keep the wipes that she has taken out of the wipe container. She has played with it now for 15 minutes, just moving from room to room with them. My guess is that she will play with them off and on all day today.

Strawberry Season

Who doesn't love strawberry season?!? On Sunday, Patrick made pancakes and I made strawberry syrup to go on top. Mmmm... The recipe is at the bottom. We both agreed that while it was yummy on the pancakes, it would be better on ice cream!

I have also made 4 quarts of freezer jam. I was shocked to find out that Patrick has never had freezer jam! That was remedied quickly. I always thought that freezer jam was long hard process. I was happy to find that it was quick and easy! Granted, it would have been quicker and easier if I wasn't using a fork to mash my strawberries. :)

Strawberry Syrup

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups mashed unsweetened strawberries

Directions
1. In a saucepan, bring sugar and water to a boil. Gradually add strawberries; return to boil.

2. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Yields: about 2 1/2 cups.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

The 18th was our second anniversary. To celebrate we had my sister watch Joss for us while we went out to a new to us Mexican restaurant called Rio Mirage. The food was good and Patrick really liked his tamale.

After dinner we went to the grocery store and picked up 8lbs of strawberries to make freezer jam with. Yum!

We then picked up Joss and put her to bed and watched a movie.

I was meaning to take more pictures of the night, but I only got one. :) It's of Patrick getting in the car after filling up at the gas station.

Play It Again

Joss love, love, LOVES to play the piano. The other morning while I was getting ready for church she got our file box out and climbed up so she could play all by herself.

Good News, Bad News

The good news is that Joss is learning to drink from a cup all by herself.

The bad news is that she is drinking her bath water.

Captain White Beard

Joslyn has decided that the bubbles in the bath taste delicious. I can't convince her otherwise. It does make for funny moments when she pops up with a full on beard of bubbles though!

Joss and Beans

Sorry, it feels like it has been FOREVER since I have updated this thing! I have a ton to post so check back for that. I'm hoping that tonight or tomorrow I will be able to get them up.For now though, just enjoy this.

When I was pregnant with Joslyn the only thing that I had cravings for were refried beans. I would be driving home from school late at night and just have this NEED for bean dip! So, I would end up making a big bowl at least once or twice a week.

Well, Joss still LOVES refried beans. Yesterday she had a bean roll-up for lunch. She makes quite the mess with them, but she loves to eat them.
